The Confederation of University Employees’ Organisations (CUEO) will observe ‘Higher Education Protection Week from October 8 to 15, raising various demands including an end to the Chancellor’s alleged interventions in disrupting the higher education sector.
Other demands include ensuring adequate financial assistance to universities, initiating the 12th Pay Revision process for employees without delay, releasing all arrears of dearness allowance, abandoning the National Pension System (NPS) and reinstating the old statutory pension scheme, and correcting the “flawed” economic policies of the Central government that are adversely affecting the State.
CUEO president P.K. Biju will formally inaugurate the campaign at Kerala University on October 8. Programmes will be conducted in all university campuses across the State, a press release stated.
